  • Mosaic’s Florida Scrub-Jay program—featured in the latest issue of CurrentBiology key insights into translocation as a conservation strategy. Key Findings: ✅ Translocation successfully increased FSJ population numbers. ✅ Genetic diversity remains a challenge—some birds contribute more offspring than others. ✅ Long-term monitoring is essential for improving conservation strategies. “This study not only highlights the progress we’ve made but also informs future strategies to further enhance the genetic health of translocated populations,” says Mosaic ecologist Dr. Raoul Boughton. Mosaic remains committed to protecting Florida’s unique ecosystems through habitat restoration, species monitoring, and ongoing research.
