The Mote team is celebrating a win. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced support for our pilot facility as part of their Carbon Negative Shot program. 💰 We will receive $7M in Federal funds (the top funding award) to construct and operate an end-to-end pilot plant that turns wood waste into hydrogen, with a carbon removal capacity of about 3 tons CO2 per day. 🔬 Mote will work in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory on the pilot, which brings three decades of combined biomass gasification experience to the table. 🌎 Leading experts, such as Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, in the U.S. continue to affirm Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS), and specifically Mote’s technology. 📅 The pilot will be up and running more than a year ahead of our first planned commercial facility which is a Tier 1 project in ARCHES H2, allowing Mote to refine operational strategies and head off risks for our full sized facility. While U.S. clean hydrogen is in its early stages, growth will be exponential. Hydrogen development is becoming integral to global energy security. At the same time, major U.S. industrial and data centers are looking to hydrogen as a reliable energy source. Project decisions hinging on 45V rules will soon get clarity, and we believe the pace of the market will accelerate. Thank you to all team members, internal and external to the company, who helped bring this to reality. Read more at https://lnkd.in/enpyXDjb #hydrogen #BICRS #FOAK #biomass #bioenergy

This just happened at Hydrogen Americas 2024 Summit & Exhibition: Chris Hessler moderated a panel of #hydrogen innovators to discuss how hydrogen can support hard-to-abate sectors in #decarbonization. The panel underscored the need for establishing long-term, robust markets that include sensible policy and incentives. Thanks for this valuable discussion about your projects and for sharing your insights. We would also like to thank Sustainable Energy Council and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for their support of this important convening.
