𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿! Did you know that glaciers are not only a crucial source of #freshwater but also sensitive indicators of #ClimateChange? 🗻🌡️ ❄️ They provide water that from nourishing our fields to supporting entire ecosystems, is the heartbeat of our territories. Mountains are thus critical in the #WaterCycle, with the Alps alone supplying 40% of Europe’s fresh water! 🗻🔄 💧 Yet, glaciers are disappearing at an alarming rate. In fact, they are projected to vanish in one-third of the current sites by 2050! ⌛🆘 🚩 While Alaska is the biggest loser in terms of total ice volume, Central Europe is the most affected region globally in terms of glacier mass change, experiencing the highest percentage loss between 2000 and 2023. This stark reality underscores the urgent need for climate action! With 2025 being the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, let's raise awareness and work together to protect these vital natural resources 💧 This is why at Euromontana, we ask the EU to address the consequences for Europe of a water crisis in the mountains and propose crosscutting solutions 🚨 Some of our demands: 👉 Taking advantage of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation in 2025 to strengthen the Europe's commitment to preserve glaciers 🗻 👉 Guidance for mountain territories on water issues through the future EU plan for adaptation to climate change 📄 👉 Conditionality for Cohesion Policy investments, especially for water-intensive tourism infrastructure 🚱 👉 Support for water-friendly farming practices in the #CAP, (like ANC farming👀) To make these requests heard by the European Commission, we recently contributed to the public consultation on the Water Resilience Initative! Have a look at our contribution 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eRXDfGdZ Check out as well the new UNESCO report "Mountains and glaciers - Water towers" 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e-3WGryX #Glaciers2025 #MountainsMatter

Can you imagine a world without forests? 🤔 No mushrooms, no berries, no climate regulation, no honey, no home for 80% of terrestrial species. Forests are more than just trees - they are a vital food source. 🫐 This International Day of Forests, we highlight the essential role woodlands play in global food security and biodiversity. At REVOLVE, we are committed to protecting forests and enhancing their resilience. Through two projects, we are making a tangible impact: 🌿 Med-IREN is working to mitigate forest fires in PACA, France, and Burgas, Bulgaria - helping to preserve forest ecosystems and food sources; 🌲 MountResilience is developing an early warning system in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, to protect high-forested areas from environmental threats. 👉 Scroll the carousel and take our quiz to find out how much you know about forests!

“A complex problem needs a complex answer.” 💧🏔️ In northwestern Italy, the Piemonte Region is facing strong climate change impacts. Rising temperatures are 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀, leading to 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀—a challenge that directly affects agriculture. To address this, the region is developing new digital decision support tools to help farmers and irrigation organisations manage water resources more effectively. This system will provide both short- and long-term strategies to adapt to changing conditions and ensure a more resilient agricultural sector. 💡🌿 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿! 🔎 That’s why we have created the Inter-Regional Cross-Pollination Platform (ICP) — a main learning hub featuring stories from our regional demonstrators, spanning from Lapland to the Alps and beyond. 👩🏻💻 Last week, we hosted the second ICP session, where our partners from #Lapland, Finland, shared their experiences, challenges, and research outcomes. 📋 We heard about how 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and local knowledge are used to detect environmental changes caused by climate change. These insights can be mapped using Public Participation GIS (PPGIS), helping with early warning notices. ⛷️ Additionally, we learned how 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 can be supported in adapting to climate change. For instance, MountResilience provides 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and proactive planning, bringing together businesses and experts. ✨ Swipe right to discover the 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 from the ICP session hosted by Lapland!
