Imagine not knowing where your next meal will come from—this is the grim reality for millions of people facing hunger due to conflict, disease outbreaks, and climate shocks. Dalmar’s story reminds us that leaving people to starve is a policy choice. Programs funded through the U.S. Farm Bill save millions from this fate, offering a lifeline to those struggling to survive. But that lifeline is in jeopardy. Congress has temporarily extended the bill, but each delay leaves the food security of millions in uncertainty, their futures hanging in the balance. We cannot afford to let this happen. This #WorldFoodDay, urge Congress to pass a strong Farm Bill that helps fight hunger today and strengthens communities to face tomorrow’s challenges. 📢 Visit care.org/EndHunger and tell your elected officials to act before it’s too late For Dalmar's full story: https://lnkd.in/dwT2KsF4

Children in Lebanon are being killed, injured and uprooted from their homes as Israeli airstrikes have struck multiple densely populated areas across the country.    Nowhere is safe in Lebanon.   Children in #Lebanon were already grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis driven by economic collapse, political instability and ongoing conflict, with more than half of the population dependent on humanitarian assistance for basic needs⚠   420,000 children are now among the 1.2 million people who have fled their homes as a result of the increasing insecurities in recent months.   Since October 2023, we’ve supported 102,000 people including 41,000 children with:    ❤️Safe shelters with recreational activities to help children process traumatic experiences  ❤️Cash to buy essentials like food, warm clothing and medicines  ❤️Food and hygiene kits  ❤️Learning & mental health support  ❤️Access to clean water and washing facilities    Every child in Lebanon must have access to the assistance and critical services they need to survive and thrive.   Please consider donating to our Children’s Emergency Fund. Sara*, a Lebanese mother of four children, delivered her baby on 23 September. Just a few hours later, she was forced to flee her home in the southern suburb of Beirut. She and her family were unable to find space in the overcrowded shelters nearby, and now have nowhere to go. Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have displaced over half a million people like Sara, according to Lebanese authorities. These photos show just a few of them. In a recent IRC needs assessment, 90% of the newly displaced families interviewed said that they cannot meet basic needs like food, shelter and health care. With at least 2,000 people dead and more than 9,000 injured since October, the ground invasion is compounding the deteriorating humanitarian situation across the country. All parties in the region must heed calls for an immediate ceasefire. The IRC has worked and is on the ground with a recently deployed medical team to help the displaced. We are also providing free medical consultations, medications and mental health and psychosocial support. *Pseudonym used to protect the family’s privacy.

During this past year, more children have been killed in Gaza than in four years of conflict worldwide ⚠ Against all odds, our teams and local partners have worked tirelessly to adapt and keep providing lifesaving support to children in the occupied Palestinian territory, in both Gaza and the West Bank. In Gaza in this past year we have: ❤️Set up child-friendly spaces and temporary learning spaces. ❤️Provided support to separated/unaccompanied children and children with disabilities. ❤️Provided shelter kits, hygiene kits and drinking water. ❤️Deployed our Emergency Health Unit to provide critical healthcare services to over 20,000 people. ❤️Helped to provide polio vaccinations to over 2,800 children. ❤️Distributed food parcels together with local partners. ❤️Provided cash assistance to help families afford essential items. The situation remains dire, and it is crucial that the siege is lifted, and all crossings are opened to ensure that lifesaving aid reaches those in need. While we are calling for a ceasefire and improved access, we are doing everything we can to provide essential food, water, and medicine to families in need. Your donation will help us keep delivering this lifesaving support and rebuild shattered childhoods 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZ887fCm Learn more about our response during this one year of war in Gaza ➡ https://lnkd.in/eZ523pVf

This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we spotlight the critical importance of supporting caregivers' mental health in crisis settings for young children's holistic development. In conflict and crisis-affected areas, nearly one in five individuals grapple with mental health conditions. Social determinants like poverty, violence, discrimination, and isolation directly contribute to the prevalence of these issues. Despite the magnitude of this challenge, many affected populations lack access to mental health and psychosocial support services due to inadequate or non-existent care systems.
