About us
MPD was formed in 2020 through the merger of Marlboro Electric Cooperative and Pee Dee Electric Cooperative with the goal of creating joint economic benefits, long-term efficiencies and overall improved service for members residing in Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Lee, Marion, and Marlboro Counties in South Carolina. MPD has numerous for-profit subsidiaries including a very large commercial and industrial real estate firm known as Marlboro Development Team (“MDT”) and oil company, MPD Energy.

Yesterday, MPD employees had the privilege of cooking and serving 207 meals at the Community Kitchen of Bennettsville. Located at 126 S. Liberty Street in downtown Bennettsville, the Community Kitchen of Bennettsville serves meals daily, Monday through Friday, from 11:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. With help from the community, Mr. Roger Griggs and Mrs. Anne Griggs opened the doors to the Community Kitchen of Bennettsville in 2019 after being inspired by a sermon they heard at church. The sign above the front door is printed with a passage from James 2:15-16 which reads: Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes or daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed.” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? #volunteer #givingback #makeadifference #helpingthecommunity
