We are a weird bunch of creatives located in Ludwigsburg, Germany. After working together on games and interactive installations during our studies at Animationsinstitut in Ludwigsburg, we decided to start something all our own. A place to show our unique visual style, to tell stories that go deep and create experiences with an impact. We want to make meaningful, beautiful games that stay with you, long after you have turned off the screen.

    Who’s as excited for devcom next week as we are? 🚀 Julius Dorsel and I are thrilled to be giving a talk on “Making Meaningful Games” on Monday, 4:30 PM, Stage 3! ⭐ At Mucks! Games, which we founded last year, our mission is to create beautiful and meaningful games—games that do more than just entertain. In our talk, we’ll dive into what “meaningful” truly means to us and how we aim to design experiences that resonate on a deeper level. We’ll also explore how transmedia storyworlds can be used to create content with a purpose beyond entertainment, using our award-winning mobile game, "The Bear – A Story from the World of Gra," as a case study.     Last week we had a lot of fun filming with the crew of SWR Kultur in our office! 🌟 In the latest episode of SWR Kultur, the cultural program of a German public television broadcaster, Mucks! Games is featured as a games studio with a different approach to video games. 🐻 Our interactive bed-time story “The Bear” is highlighted as a soothing alternative to fast-paced, attention-grabbing games. “The Bear” is a poetic adventure, specially designed to be calming and relaxing in its colors, gameplay and music. It is meant to be the opposite of the endless feeds we interact with on our phones at bedtime that keep us awake. Instead, “The Bear” is created to reconnect you with that intimate emotional time, that exists just before falling asleep. A bedtime story, for anyone, at any age. 🐺 We also gave a sneak peek into our upcoming game, "Frieda is Changing," a feminist fun horror adventure that we're super excited about. At Mucks!, we want to create games with a social impact – and we are excited to have been able to share it with a large audience through this television feature!     Mucks! Games is back from California! ☀ As Apple Design Awards Finalists Julius Dorsel and I had the opportunity to go to the World Wide Developers Conference 2024 held by Apple. It was an amazing experience to be welcomed into the Apple headquarters, seeing Infinity Loop and Apple Park, as well as witnessing their iconic keynote. We met an amazing bunch of creatives from all over the world: winners, finalists, app creators and game developers. We loved sharing the ups and downs of being a small studio with the many indies that were part of this years design awards and applaud apple for supporting up and coming developers. 🐻 🌟 Our game ‘The Bear’ was a finalist in the category ‘Social Impact’. Although we didn’t win, we highly recommend playing the game that did – ‘The Wreck’ by French indie studio THE PIXEL HUNT. It is a beautifully emotional experience and has earned its (astoundingly heavy) little square trophy. We enjoyed meeting their art director Alexandre Grilletta and talking about how we appreciate the recognition of meaningful storytelling in a category such as ‘Social Impact’. We only had a couple of days in Silicon Valley – and will need a couple of days to recover from the jetlag – but what an adventure it was! #WWDC24

    🌟 Mucks! Games has big news: We are elated to share that “The Bear – A Story from the World of Gra” is a finalist of this years Apple Design Awards in the category Social Impact! 💫 It is difficult to put into words what this means to us – Not even a year ago we founded Mucks! Games to follow our dream of creating games that do a little more than just entertain. In a rushed presentation for a local event we decided on three core values that would be the identity of our games: They should be beautiful, story-driven and have a social impact. It is now a little over a month after the release of our first game “The Bear”, which was nominated for “Best Story” and “Best Graphic Design” at the German Computer Game Awards, covering the first two of our three core values: beautiful and story-driven. Seeing “The Bear” now in the category Social Impact at the Apple Design Awards, reflecting our third and arguably most important core value, is absolutely incredible. We created “The Bear” as an interactive bedtime story – seeing that its calming design and gentle storytelling can meaningfully touch players - and having its social impact recognized like this - means the world to us. We are so honored to see “The Bear” amongst such amazing finalists this year. What an incredible list to be a part of! We are so excited to meet some of the other teams at #WWDC and be inspired! #AppleDesignAwards

    Nominated for the German Computer Games Award: THE BEAR – A STORY FROM THE WORLD OF GRA! 🕹️ 🏆 Yesterday, the nominations for this year’s German Computer Games Award were announced. Among the nominees: our recent Interactive Media graduates from Mucks! Games with THE BEAR. THE BEAR is an interactive good night story for tablets. Two friends, the bear and the little one, go on a journey through a dreamy little universe, collecting stories and stars. A game about reconnecting to this intimate, emotional time that exists just before falling asleep. 🌙 THE BEAR is the first game within the WORLD OF GRA – a story world developed at the Animationsinstitut. The team behind the whole thing even produced this year’s trailers for FMX - Film & Media Exchange, Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film and Animation Production Days (APDs). What an achievement! 👏 👏 Congratulations to Clara Deitmar, Julius Dorsel, Luzie Kehle and all the wonderful people who have been involved in bringing THE BEAR (and WORLD OF GRA) to life.
