The US Army’s combat goggles are on their way to turning soldiers into Superman as Anduril Industries works with Microsoft to improve the headsets’ performance. The company is well equipped for this task as co-founder Palmer Luckey also founded Oculus VR which he sold to Meta for $2B in 2014. Now he’s returning to headsets, this time for the battlefield. The collaboration includes embedding Anduril’s Lattice software into the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS), enabling soldiers to see real-time threats with live information pulled from drones, ground vehicles, and aerial defense systems. Mighty Buildings is making its 3D-printed homes even more sustainable by partnering with multinational manufacturing conglomerate Honeywell By replacing traditional foam insulation with Honeywell’s low-global warming potential insulation (99.9% lower GWP than conventional insulation), the partnership will result in energy-efficient, climate-resistant building panels that reduce carbon emissions, minimize waste, and accelerate construction times. This collaboration is a significant step towards transforming the construction industry’s carbon footprint and meeting the growing demand for sustainable building solutions. Since Gecko Robotics deployed its wall-climbing inspection robots across the US Navy surface fleet last year, the partnership has continued to grow — with a 400% increase of Gecko’s technology on surface ships and a scope expansion to include aircraft carriers scheduled for this fall. According to the Navy data, Gecko's advanced robotics and AI platform significantly reduce maintenance lead times and labor by capturing millions of data points on vital defense structures, far exceeding the capabilities of traditional methods. The new deals position Gecko as a key player in maintaining critical defense assets, helping the U.S. Navy pioneer advanced technologies to enhance fleet readiness and reduce unexpected maintenance—a challenge faced globally in naval operations. San Francisco-based satellite startup Loft Orbital has formed a joint venture with Abu Dhabi-based Marlan Space to mass-manufacture satellites in the Middle East. Backed by over $100 million from a holding company tied to the Abu Dhabi royal family, Orbitworks will be the UAE's first commercial satellite manufacturing firm. Orbitworks plans to produce up to 50 satellites annually at a facility in Abu Dhabi, and the first of these are expected to be assembled by early 2025.   The joint venture is set to become a significant player in satellite production, reflecting the UAE's growing influence in the global space industry.
