What is the difference between off-site construction and other modular construction, and how can they benefit healthcare facilities? We recently partnered with MODLOGIQ to design Memorial Health System's Athens Medical Campus in Athens, Ohio, a 100,000 square foot healthcare facility. Designed using modular off-site construction, the entire building was fabricated and assembled in a factory away from the project site. This process saved twelve months on construction and enabled the facility to open earlier than traditional on-site construction. Project of the Week: Madison Health Expansion & Renovation — A new look and feel was designed to improve the experience and the impression of care provided at Madison Health, shifting the community’s impression of the ED from a “triage center” to that of high-quality service in a state-of-the-art facility. Lighting, finishes, artwork, furniture and environmental graphic design are integrated to create a cohesive image. As a result, Madison Health has captured more of their market share that was traveling to newer facilities to seek treatment. HEAPY Photographer: Feinknopf Photography

When one of our interns reaches the end of their internship, we ask them to choose a Make It statement that resonates with their experience at NAC. Make It statements embody our values as a firm. Our Healthcare Practice Research Intern Braden Delullo chose “Make It Collaborative.” He shared, “Coming from a background in public health, there was a lot that I didn’t know when it comes to architecture… collaboration was extremely important. Our research team worked very well together, and we were able to get a lot done this summer.” During his internship with NAC, Braden had the opportunity to work in a collaborative office environment, allowing him to develop essential skills that were difficult to explore during the disruption of COVID-19. He is passionate about making a positive impact in public health and improving the lives of others through his work. We look forward to following his journey as he continues to grow and achieve great things. Braden is completing his education at The Ohio State University College of Public Health. #internship #connected #NACinterns Music by Joel Loopez/Jamendo / Adobe Stock

We're proud to also share that our design for James Baldwin Elementary School was recognized with a Merit Award by the AIA Washington Council Civic Design Awards. This project is all about equity, support, and inspiration for our students. We engaged diverse voices to define what equity means in a building, created safe spaces for those experiencing homelessness and trauma, and incorporated art and literacy spaces, including the “Wall of Luminaries” to inspire our future leaders. Thank you to everyone who made this vision a reality! Together, we’re building a brighter future for our students!

Exciting news! Kimball Elementary School has received an Honorable Mention in the AIA Washington Council Civic Design Awards. This new school harmonizes with its Beacon Hill neighborhood, embracing the terraced site and nestling among mature groves of trees. Community engagement played a vital role in the design, reflecting the diverse voices of students and families through features like multilingual greetings and a mural celebrating local cuisine. Sustainability is a key focus, with reused materials from the original school and spaces that encourage collaboration. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this inspiring project! We’re thrilled to support a vibrant learning environment for our students!
