    I've had four conversations in the last two weeks with new and existing clients struggling to get wins in the recruiting department, specifically regarding top-tier engineering talent. Here are two common themes amongst all of them: 🚩 Their process was too long ➡ From submission to offer, none of these teams were making offers in under 30 days; in one case, they were averaging close to 60! Get your process to 21 days or less and your offer to acceptance % will skyrocket! Do this by defining an interview process at the outset of a search and sticking to it and running tight feedback loops. 🚩 Transactional first interviews ➡ These teams were kicking off the interview process with a coding exercise or a rigorous resume deep-dive and candidates were coming off their interviews with a lukewarm feeling and few of their questions answered. Show candidates you are investing in them and they will invest in you. Make introductory calls conversational and you will see less churn in your interview pipeline and candidates will prioritize next steps with your team in what is becoming an increasingly busy market. 💡 The good news? Many, many teams are making these mistakes. Make these tweaks and it will start to stack the deck in your favor. Want to talk about winning talent?     Tomorrow, the Tuesday after Labor Day, is a perennial favorite. There is always a palpable energy in the air with lots of new searches opening and a push for teams to hit their goals in the year's final stretch. If the start of Q3 has been any indication, I expect this September to show off a little extra "energy" and for Q4 to border on frenetic as teams battle for talent.     Almost 2/3 of these candidates go into the office at least once a week and in many cases 3+ days. I'm slightly biased, but if you are hiring engineering and/or product talent in NYC Nace Partners has the best knowledge of active & semi-passive talent in the industry.

The Big Apple is gaining the largest share of relocating tech talent, according to recent data from SignalFire. 1 in every 7 employees who relocated between 2019-2023 made NYC home, and for good reason: the city has more than 549,000 tech jobs (per Axios).
