They did it 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The Ohio State University College of Public Health brought home the first place prize in the 29th Annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition. The team was comprised of Kagatou Diallo, BSW, Rezi Useh, and Rabaca “Sumeya” Haji Ibrahim, BSHA, who each did such a remarkable job in presenting their case materials to several executive leaders and attendees at this year's Annual Education Conference. Teams were tasked with coming up with a solution that integrates A.I. to address health needs for a particular age demographic, on behalf of our case sponsor Kaiser Permanente. A day before their final presentation, the team expressed that "proud" was the word to describe how they felt going into the case presentation, and it's safe to say they have every right to express their pride after such a phenomenal performance. A special thank you to Caleb Green, MHSA for capturing this interview to gather the thoughts of the competitors. We would also like to thank all of our teams who competed this year! We are so grateful for all the time you put into this case, and hope it was an enriching experience for each of you. Lastly, we'd like to thank our Case Competition Co-Chairs Quian Callender, FACHE & Heather Afriyie-Bassuah, MHA as well as our entire Case Competition Committee for all of their hard work and dedication in facilitating this case from start to finish. Next year, we'll be in Pittsburgh. We hope to see you there. Until next time. #NAHSE #NAHSEAEC2024 #NAHSECASE24 #CaseCompetition #FortLauderdale #Florida

About us
The Case Competition is a scholarship program, where graduate programs in Health Administration, Business Administration and Public Health are invited to form teams of 1-3 students. Student teams are given a unique case study and are charged with applying their creativity, knowledge and experience to analyze the diverse and real situations facing the healthcare organization featured in the case. The teams are given the specific facts and raw data related to the case, from which they are expected to reach decisions as outlined in the case assignment. Past cases have been focused on healthcare organizations such as Kaiser Permanente, The Mayo Clinic, Catholic Health Initiatives, St. John Health System, Trinity Health System, University of Maryland Medical System, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), GE Healthcare, Catholic Health Partners, and most recently Ochsner Health. The teams present their case findings and recommendations before panels of judges representing leaders in the healthcare field. In addition to the competition, participation in the Case Competition allows students the opportunity to display their skills before prospective employers and to build their professional network. The Case Competition program also includes networking events where students are encouraged to network with judges and sponsors, as well as with general conference attendees in order to strengthen their peer-to-peer and professional network contacts. The Case Competition is made possible through generous sponsorship of healthcare organizations across the country. With the support of our sponsor partners, NAHSE has provided over $400,000 in scholarship awards to deserving students. As a corporate sponsor of the Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition, your organization will participate in the professional development of minority graduate students in pursuit of careers in healthcare management.

There's nothing like NAHSE Case - simply the best health administration case competition for graduate students! The 29th Annual NAHSE Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition and 39th Annual National Association of Health Services Executives (N.A.H.S.E.) Education Conference was one for the NAHSE archives. Despite the pending Hurricane Milton, 21 teams made it to Fort Lauderdale to present their creative solutions on embedding technology and AI to increase membership enrollment and retention for Gen Z and Baby Boomers in Kaiser Permanente markets. Many thanks to Kaiser Permanente and Michelle Gaskill-Hames for their support and sponsorship of this year's competition. Thank you to the all judges who volunteered their time to give essential feedback. We would not have been able to capture all of the moments without Caleb Green, MHSA. A big thank you to the national team: Lisa Maria Mallory, PhD (she/her/hers), Beverly Glover, Tiffany Webb, MBA, CEWP, AED and Stephanie Anderson for their support. And finally a thank you Chelsea Perry and Nathalie Occean, MHA, CPHQ, last year's co-chairs. I'm incredibly honored to the work alongside the impeccable Heather Afriyie-Bassuah, MHA and the entire case competition team who put in so many hours the last 10 months and long days and nights this past week, to make this a memorable, fun and educational time for students! This is what a dream team looks like! Congratulations to all the students, the finalists, and The Ohio State University who took home 1st place this year and $5,000 per team member totaling $15,000. In the last 29 years, over 1,000 students have participated in the case competition with over $700,000 in scholarships awarded. We'll see you in 2025 for the 30th Annual NAHSE Everett V.
