Congratulations to Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute (BHLI) scholar Evan Bailey who was recently named to Crain’s Detroit 40 Under 40. Evan, a 2014 BHLI scholar, is Director of Surgery at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI. Evan completed his BHLI coordinated internships at America's Essential Hospitals in Washington DC and Henry Ford Health. After completing his internship at Henry Ford, Evan was awarded an Administrative Fellowship at the health system and has continued to serve there since 2016. Congratulations to Swope Health Executive Vice President of Behavioral Health Josette Mitchell. Recently, she was presented the 2024 Dedicated Leadership Award from Sisters In Christ KC! The honor acknowledges heroes across the city who are impactful in their organizations and presented at the organization’s annual gala. Josette was chosen based on the huge impact she has made at Swope Health and Imani House, and the partnership she has helped form with their agency.

Again this year students in the MHA, MPH, and PhD programs at UNMC's College of Public Health were invited to attend the Nebraska Hospital Association's Annual Convention. This is the third year students have met with health leaders across the state and participated in workshops and open forums while at the convention. A clear thank-you goes to Jeremy Nordquist and the entire staff at the NHA. Fostering networking, engaging with health leaders, and learning about healthcare, you cannot ask for a better couple of days. The convention continues to inspire our students.

It was also great to present yesterday with our Nebraska MGMA panel on “Physician partnership opportunities” with fellow board members Jen Timmerman, CHFP, Matthew Huff and Kevin Hejtmanek, PT, DPT, MHA, CHFP. Thank you to American College of Healthcare Executives for the Service Award. My membership has been invaluable both personally and professionally. It is a pleasure to continue to serve this organization and its members. At our Annual ACHE of Nebraska and Western Iowa Chapter Meeting in conjunction with the Nebraska Hospital Association Annual Conference we also recognized CHI Health Lakeside's own President, Mark Longacre, MHA, MPT, FACHE for his Distinguished Service Level to ACHE. We also voted on some new board members in Sydney Schoening, CDP, MHA, RDCS, RVT of Immanuel and Tina Pate MSN, RN CEN of Great Plains Health. Lastly we ended with a panel of myself joined by Christopher Nesheim and Trina White on Bending the Execution Curve. It is a pleasure to hand over the Chapter Presidency to Danelle Franzen, FACHE in 2025, the Chapter wikl be in great hands!
