Nashville Diaper Connection (“NashDiaper”) is a non-profit diaper bank that distributes free diapers through a network of partner agencies in the community to families in need. We are the only diaper bank serving Middle Tennessee since 2013. We provide diapers to an average of 5,500 children per month. 2023 marked our 10th year anniversary, as well as the distribution of our 10 millionth diaper. To date we have distributed over 13,000,000 diapers as we strive to reach our goal of leaving "No Child Wet Behind.” More and more families experience diaper need every day, and there are no federal, state or local government assistance programs that provide diapers. Without diapers, babies cannot go to childcare or participate in early childhood education. Without much-needed childcare, many parents cannot go to work or school. This causes homes with more tension, less nurturing behavior and possible abuse. An uncomfortable baby cries more, which can lead to mistreatment and neglect. We want to ensure that every baby in Nashville and Middle Tennessee has enough diapers to remain clean, dry and healthy because every baby deserves a healthy start.

We had the pleasure of sharing all things NashDiaper with Representative Caleb Hemmer last week. In addition to learning the ins and outs of diaper banking and seeing what 1.3 million diapers looks like, we shared what we know about TennCare's new Diaper Program & Representative Hemmer got to try out diaper wrapping. We think he's a natural and should participate in our upcoming Wrap Off or at least plan a return trip soon.
We had a first today. Our First Partner Agency Meeting. What a joy to share the morning with 32 people from 23 Partner Agencies (winner for longest drive: Shanon & Ansley from Community Table Manchester). It was great to see all the faces doing the work in the community, ensuring that babies have the diapers they need to stay dry, clean, and healthy. Feeling very hopeful for the health of mamas. We realize there is a lot of work to be done, but this feels like a step in the right direction.

A new bill in Congress, the Mamas First Act, could mean increased access to doulas and midwives covered by Medicaid. This is a critical step towards improving birth outcomes, especially for Black birthing people who face higher pregnancy-related mortality rates. I do have some concerns as I ponder if we'll have enough doulas and Midwives in place to meet the growing demand? Not only trained but resourced and supported to show up as a powerful workforce. We can help shine a light on funding and payment gaps. Many aspire to do the work and have the passion but lack the resources and it's unacceptable. There is certainly more work to be done. Babies & Bourbon A huge thank you to Ben Hill with NewsChannel 5 Network for sharing about Nashville Barrel Company's fundraiser benefiting Nashville Diaper Connection. Today our Founder and President, Douglas Adair had the opportunity to share about diaper need with Hannah McDonald of NewsChannel 5 Network while they discussed TennCare's upcoming diaper program. Did you know: >That 1 in 2 families with diaper aged children experience diaper need. **Diaper need is the inability to provide one's child with an adequate supply of clean, dry diapers. >Without an day's supply of diapers parents can not leave their baby at childcare and thus have to miss work or school. >Diapers can cost around $100 per month per child. >NashDiaper supplies diapers to over 5,500 babies each month. **We do this by purchasing bulk diapers and working with an amazing network of partners in our community. For more information about NashDiaper, diaper need, or how you can help, drop a comment below we love to share!! https://lnkd.in/edn-H5B5
Thanks for sharing Lauren. We are almost 1/2 way through participating in the World's Largest Diaper Drive this year. Have you donated yet? Want more info? Check out our website. . . or ask all the questions and we'll be glad to share. **Did you know 1 in 2 U.S. families cannot afford enough diapers to keep their infant or child clean, dry, and healthy. Without clean diapers: babies are exposed to potential health risks and toxic stress; mothers are at risk for increased maternal depression; parents are unable to access child care, which require a daily supply of diapers; and, parents miss work or school.
The World's Largest Diaper Drive is Officially Underway! 🍼 Clean, dry diapers help babies be physically and emotionally healthier. However, 1 in 2 families in Middle TN experience diaper need. Nashville Diaper Connection is asking families, organizations, and corporations to collect as many diapers as they can or donate money for underserved families this May. The goal is collect 150,000 diapers and $20,000! https://lnkd.in/g6s9y2_y
