Our final Hispanic Heritage Month spotlight is on Maryam, our HR Manager, who brings her rich cultural background from Cali, Colombia. With roots in the Ilama, Yotoco, Sonso and Malagana indigenous tribes, Maryam's connection to her heritage runs deep. From spending summers in Colombia with her family to carrying on traditions like her grandmother’s "sancocho de gallina," Maryam embraces her culture with pride. She believes in facing life’s challenges with positivity, a lesson from the phrase “Al mal tiempo, buena cara.” Join us in celebrating Maryam and the vibrant culture she helps share with future generations.

This week's spotlight is our Labor Coordinator, Carolina Henry. Carolina’s family heritage is rooted in the beautiful traditions of Costa Rica. One of her fondest memories is celebrating the festive holiday season, where the start of summer means heading to the beach with family and friends. She’s proud to pass down her grandmother's cherished recipes, like "Olla de Carne" and "Arroz con Pollo," to her daughter, keeping their traditions alive through food. For Carolina, the phrase "Pura Vida" is used as the response to being asked, "How are you?" It perfectly captures her culture’s positivity—it means “I am really good.” To Carolina, Hispanic Heritage Month is a meaningful celebration of her culture, and she’s excited to share it with her grandchildren and colleagues alike. She hopes everyone understands how Costa Rican culture welcomes others with open arms, treating all like family.
