Tomorrow! NPWH joins Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, and Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC outside of the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, April 2, to hear from storytellers and providers about how this case could harm patients, and make our voices heard! Millions of people across the country rely on Medicaid for health care. Many choose the high-quality, affordable Planned Parenthood health centers provide — including cancer screenings, annual visits, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and birth control. But, the U.S. Supreme Court may pave the way for states to block this care for many of the 70 million people who use Medicaid — despite the 4th Circuit ruling three times that federal law prevents states from saying that Planned Parenthood health centers cannot provide care for patients on Medicaid. That's why NPWH will join Planned Parenthood of America and march to the Supreme Court to show them that Planned Parenthood services matter to Americans of all backgrounds. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments April 2 to decide whether people who are blocked from using their Medicaid benefits at a Planned Parenthood health center can sue over their right to get quality health care from the qualified provider of their choice. About the case: This case, brought by an individual patient plaintiff and Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, is about whether South Carolina can block people with Medicaid from going to the qualified provider of their choice. This case could take away a critical legal tool that Planned Parenthood patients and health centers use to challenge Medicaid "defund" efforts against Planned Parenthood. In turn, it also threatens access to sexual and reproductive care for people with Medicaid coverage across the country. Register to join!
