On May 28, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) published a request for comments on a series of proposed tariff increases, including a 25% tariff on all ship-to-shore gantry cranes procured from China. USTR proposed the tariff to be effective for any Chinese-sourced STS crane landed in the U.S. beginning on August 1, 2024. The USTR announced today that its public comment review continues and will likely not be completed until some time in August. The USTR's message indicates that any adopted tariffs will not come into effect until two weeks after the USTR takes its final action. NAWE continues to work with USTR to ensure that the Administration has a full understanding of the proposed tariff’s impacts.
