We were honored to recently host more than 110 leaders from rural, remote, frontier and Indigenous CACs across 37 states for our Rural CAC Convening in Bozeman, Montana! We truly appreciated the great interactions from the panel discussions providing solution-based information for our rural CAC leaders to share and reflect upon how to best meet some of the unique challenges that CACs face in serving children and families in rural communities, such as access to resources, training and education, partnerships, hiring and staffing, community awareness and outreach, and Accreditation support and resources. Thank you so much to everyone for coming and providing great insights to help serve children and families in these communities! We're committed to continue connecting our rural communities and have already launched a Rural CAC Leaders community on our NCA Engage platform that our members can join to ask their peers questions, share ideas, resources and solutions specific to rural populations. If you're a member serving rural areas, please join the community with your Engage account: https://lnkd.in/g_hZZJC4

"If federal funding were to disappear, Indiana's 26 centers would be left struggling to employ staff who provide forensic interviews, victim advocacy, and more." Executive Director of Indiana Child Advocacy Centers Jan Lutz was featured in Indianapolis Business Journal to discusses the impact of Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) cuts to victim services, like Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) in Indiana, at risk of cutting back resources. Read on to learn more, share this with your network, and tell Congress to pass the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CVFSA) in the House to protect CACs and provide access for victims to get the support they need: https://lnkd.in/gtkF5yGr

We want to thank Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA) for his continued fight for VOCA and child crime victims nationwide. Deposits into the Crime Victims Fund (CVF) have dropped drastically for years, and now Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) services across the nation are facing over $600 million in cuts. In order to stabilize the CVF and prevent further cuts, Rep. Costa introduced the bipartisan Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act of 2024 to ensure CACs can continue to provide essential services child crime victims and their families need. We also thank the members of the House who have joined him by supporting the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act of 2024. Now, we call on the rest of the members’ support to help us build toward a future where all child victims of crime can get back to being kids.
