According to the NHTSA, the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day holiday showed 34% of the alcohol-impaired drivers involved in fatal traffic crashes were young drivers ages 21-34. The U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of The Honorable Lori Chavez-DeRemer as Secretary of the United States Department of Labor by a vote of 67 to 32. Adolescent drug fatalities more than doubled in recent years – primarily due to opioids – and the 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health found that approximately 15% of adolescents ages 12 to 17 reported past-year illicit drug use. Preliminary analysis from NSC shows an estimated 44,680 people died in preventable traffic crashes in the U.S. during 2024. This represents a slight decrease of less than 1% compared to 2023, with only 82 fewer deaths, indicating the crisis on U.S. roadways continues with little improvement. #RoadwaySafety #SafetyForAll The impact of this crisis varies significantly across the country.
