This day reminds us of the need for healing, recognition, and a shared commitment to never forgetting this painful chapter of history. I am delighted to share the most recent Perinatal Baby Shower we had for our expecting and postpartum community members at Native American Health Center! This is our second successful baby shower of this year, with the incredible efforts of my team, Strong Families Home Visiting Program! I feel very honored to serve my community, Fruitvale Neighborhood, and be part of the journey of many of the expecting and postpartum mothers! Looking forward to continuing to work alongside the Perinatal Department and with my amazing team Strong Families.

This week, I had the opportunity to join my colleagues from Native American Health Center and many other Native health leaders at the 2024 California Urban Indian Health Conference.  Throughout the event, we discussed topics that many UIHOs are currently navigating, from CalAIM's Enhanced Care Management program to workforce development to traditional healing. These conversations reminded me how essential it is for us to continue innovating and driving change to ensure Native communities receive the care and resources they deserve. At NAHC, I know the work we do is truly shaping the future of our healthcare, and I’m energized by the collaboration, passion, and dedication shared by everyone who attended the conference.
