Wow - this is amazing. I believe this is now the 3rd North Dakota organization to receive this national award in recognition of their outstanding improvements in colorectal cancer screening. This is SUCH an impactful preventive measure to champion and prioritize - truly lifesaving! This issue will always hold a special place in my heart. Get screened, friends!! 🩵🩵🩵

“Our initial screening rate was 41% in October 2022 and our goal was then set as 60% for patients 45-75 years old, but we achieved that goal very quickly. We decided to reach higher and pursue the same goal as the American Cancer Society NCCRT, which is 80% in every community across the nation. Our 2024 year-to-date screening rate for patients 45-75 years old is currently 71.5%.” -Kari Novak, Kristen Pastorek, and Merideth Bell at Unity Medical Center on their drive to increase colorectal screenings across North Dakota

Did you attend the Western Colorectal Cancer Consortium (WC4) hosted by the California Colorectal Cancer Coalition recently? The Strategic Director of the ACS NCCRT, Kaitlin Sylvester, attended and had this to say: “WC4 was a hybrid event and brought together national and regional experts on CRC and covered topics like advocacy, early-age onset CRC signs and symptoms, primary risk factors for CRC, and ongoing efforts to improve access to quality CRC screening. It was an honor to be invited to share the work of the ACS NCCRT with such an esteemed audience, and I would like to extend my gratitude to Margaret Hitchcock and the WC4 planning team for inviting me to participate."
