On Sunday, September 15, 2024, #NEOPartner El Pueblo, Inc. welcomed 35,000 attendees to downtown Raleigh to mark Fiesta’s 30th anniversary. It was awe-inspiring to witness such a massive gathering, where families proudly showcased flags from across Latin America, many donning traditional dresses—a testament to our shared cultural pride. This milestone event was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful demonstration of our pride, existence, and resistance. For those who left their home countries or grew up in the U.S. seeking to reconnect with their roots, La Fiesta del Pueblo offers a space to honor their past while embracing their future. In addition to the festivities, they registered eligible voters and distributed 2,000 Spanish-language voter guides, ensuring their community's voice is heard at the ballot box. In a new The Chronicle of Philanthropy article by Alex Daniels, Rini Chakraborty, VP of NEO Philanthropy's Four Freedoms Fund, impressed the importance of NEO's new Movement Resilience Fund, “We have to do something or the consequences will be devastating, not just for immigrant leaders and their families but also the movement organizations that have really come to depend on them.” Creating certainty in a moment of uncertainty, the Movement Resilience Fund is a new endeavor created by NEO Philanthropy's Four Freedoms Fund in partnership with Cornell Law School's Path2Papers, Justice Action Center, and UndocuBlack Network to provide concrete support for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and other immigrant leaders within social justice organizations to help navigate the byzantine immigration laws. https://lnkd.in/g5sqTRYZ
