The NJWLA was proud to partner with other affinity bars for the 2024 Inclusive Excellence Law Student Summit, “Fortifying the Path Forward,” sponsored by the Rutgers Law School Minority Student Program (MSP) and the New Jersey State Bar Association @NJSBA. The Summit gave law school leaders from Rutgers and Seton Hall Law Schools an opportunity to hear experiences and insights from affinity bar leaders on the current state of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the legal profession, and the steps we can take to strengthen the DEI pipeline. Panel members included Leonard V. Jones, Executive Board member/Secretary, Garden State Bar Association @GSBA; Donnette A. Brown, President-Elect, Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey @ABWL-NJ; Alex Fajardo, President-Elect, Hispanic Bar Association @HBA-NJ; Gabrielle Canaie, Director, Asian Pacific American Lawyer Association @APALA; Renée Rubino, NJWLA President; and @Saad Admani, President, New Jersey Muslin Lawyers Association @NJMLA.

The Rutgers School of Law-Newark Alumni Recognition Gala honored Diana C. Manning ‘93 and Conway Ekpo ‘07 with Distinguished Alumni Awards, and Jacqueline C. Romero ‘96 with the Fannie Bear Besser Award for Public Service. Each of them expressed gratitude with powerful and personal comments that made for a special evening.

So thrilled to have been part of the amazing celebration at the Executive Women of New Jersey Salute to the Policy Makers Gala last night! It was so inspiring to pay tribute to such an amazing group of women, and I was truly honored to present honoree Eboneé Hamilton Lewis of Becton, Dickinson and Company with her Salute to the Policy Makers award. It was great to see and spend time with fellow women leaders, including from the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association, South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey (SABA-NJ), Garden State Bar Association, The Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ), and other specialty bars! Albertina Webb always brings the party – she and her whistle made the night even more fun! It was great to spend time with KSBranigan Law, P.C. attorney, Jin Y. Hwang, who is also a leader in the law! Thanks to all of the EWNJ leaders for a great night, including Susan Dromsky-Reed and Courtney McCormick, and shout out to Anna Maria Tejada, Michellene Davis, Esq., and Shacara Delgado for their leadership in past years! Rippi is an Associate General Counsel at Verizon Communications, Inc. where she handles contracts related to Human Resources, Supplier Diversity, and Executive Recruiting, among others. She actively participates in the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Council and has received the Verizon Pro Bono Service Award for her contributions to domestic violence and corporate matters. Rippi has a background in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on contracts and regulatory reviews. She serves on several boards and committees, including the Ronald McDonald House of NYC Charity and the NJ Women Lawyers Association, and runs a LinkedIn series called "Attorney of the Week" to celebrate diverse attorneys. https://lnkd.in/g8k_qg-6
