We turned 11 this year and came together in #NYStyle on #September24 on the proposition: "This House Believes Early Determinations Are Essential." The multi-format session included (1) the keynote delivered by JAMS' James Francis, into (2) the debate in chief with debaters Meaghan Gragg, Miriam Harwood, Patrick W. Pearsall, and Robert Shaw, before the presiding tribunal of Chiann Bao, Grant Hanessian, and David W. Rivkin, and culminating in the (3) moderated panel discussion led by David with all speakers. Debaters culled the #emergence of #earlydisposition in arbitral #institutionalrules and the #standards offered therein (if any) across a variety of cases, advocating between (as assigned) #essentialism and #exceptionality. Hearty thanks to our phenomenal speaker set (8!), the engaged audience (#standingroomonly), and to A&O Shearman for hosting us in top style. Jessica Beess und Chrostin & Marisa Marinelli, NYIAC Program Co-Chairs, made sure this was a #specialanniversary -- one for the books.
