"Stop clicking so fast!" Have you had someone tell you that before? While clicking faster is how we are efficient in our workday, it's also what cybercriminals are banking on. As a part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, let us remind you why it pays to take your time. Tip 3: Don't get click-happy. Pause and think first. Cybercriminals are especially good at phishing techniques. This may come in the form of an email with an attachment or link, a fake website prompting for personal information, or a pop-up that catches your attention. It can even come in the form of a voice recording. There numerous methods hackers are using these days, but you'll want to be sure to do your due diligence and check the source first. You may need to call the person your message is claiming to be from to ensure they actually sent it to you. In our case at Nex-Tech, we have a team of IT experts we can run malicious instances by, to ensure we are staying safe online. You've probably heard the acronym MFA or 2FA, but what does it really mean? Why do you need it? As a part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, allow us to shed some light on it. Tip 2: Use MFA or 2FA whenever possible. MFA stands for Multi-Factor Authentication, also referred to as 2FA or Two-Factor Authentication. For clarity, when you are logging into a password-protected site online, the website is prompting you for an additional authentication method. When MFA or 2FA is set up, it makes it more difficult for hackers to infiltrate your account. Be sure to look for this on any password protected site you have an account for - as many of these require you to manually set this up in your account settings.
