New Milestone for New Mexico's Community Solar Program! The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission has taken a significant step to boost renewable energy efforts across the state by raising the annual capacity cap for the Community Solar Program from 200 MW to 300 MW, starting November 1st. This increase not only aims to meet the growing demand for renewable energy in our communities but also addresses disparities in access to clean energy. We're dedicated to fostering a greener future and expanding solar access for all New Mexicans. The Community Solar Act initially set a capacity of 200 MW, allocated to PNM, SPS, and EPE. With the new cap, we’re ensuring New Mexico has the opportunity to grow its solar capacity further. Together, we’re paving the way for a more sustainable and equitable energy landscape. The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) is proud to join the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates, and other state public utility commissions in supporting National Digital Connectivity and Lifeline Awareness Week from September 8-14. This national campaign raises awareness of the Lifeline program, which reduces monthly phone and internet bills for qualifying low-income households. Under the federal program, residents can receive up to $9.25 off broadband or bundled voice services, and up to $5.25 off voice services. Tribal residents qualify for enhanced discounts of up to $34.25 per month. These efforts ensure that more New Mexicans can access the digital services they need to stay connected to work, family, and vital resources.
