Energizing communities since 1933.

About us

NOCO owns and operates a diverse group of businesses primarily focused on the sale and distribution of energy and petroleum products in the New York state area and beyond. Since 1933, the NOCO family has been a vibrant force in the communities we serve. Today we boldly look forward, leveraging infrastructure and manpower to pursue new markets and opportunities in energy, home services, food service, and real estate. NOCO is a third-generation family owned and locally operated company, with 90 years of experience in the energy business. Founded in Tonawanda, N.Y. in 1933 by Reginald B. Newman, NOCO started out supplying coal to residential customers. After its incorporation in 1948 to R.B. Newman Fuel Company, NOCO began delivering home heating oil as the demand for coal decreased. Reginald’s two sons, Donald F. Newman and Reginald B. Newman II, joined the company in 1954 and 1960, respectively. They continued the family tradition of growth by broadening NOCO’s product lines and marketing area. In 1973, NOCO acquired a 33 million gallon storage facility from the Gulf Oil Company. In 1983, NOCO purchased the adjacent 10 million gallon operation from Ashland Oil to give the company over 42 million gallons of petroleum storage capacity. In 2001, Jim Newman was named President, carrying the business into the third generation. With a number of acquisitions and new ventures in recent years, NOCO now distributes a full portfolio of energy products.

As the sun rose on a blustery morning in early March, the NOCO Mechanical team assembled at NOCO HQ. Their mission: to install a VRF rooftop unit for the building’s HVAC system. The prep work had not been easy; Identifying air quality and duct work issues, the demolition of a 20-year-old air handler, and creation of custom measurements for the new duct work. Despite the whipping wind and rapidly falling snow, the team soldiered on. With the use of an Expert Lift system and some elbow grease, our team was able to get the unit into position and finalize the piping of refrigerant lines. Thanks to our Mechanical Team’s exceptional commitment to achieving outstanding results, we have improved energy efficiency and indoor air quality. You may have heard that geothermal heating and cooling is a fantastic choice for residences, but did you know that geothermal is scalable to commercial buildings as well? These systems have become a popular choice for commercial buildings due to their extremely efficient climate control capabilities. They have minimal environmental impact, produce no greenhouse gas emissions, and require little maintenance compared to conventional HVAC systems. “We heard the proposal, we saw that the energy benefits and cost savings would far outweigh what we were doing,” stated Mayor Kevin Peterson of Depew, NY while discussing why the town chose geothermal heating for Fireman's Park Pavilion. If you’re interested in learning more about the installation process and geothermal systems work, we encourage you to join our free geothermal webinar on April 25th from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.
