Just under a month ago, NORA participated in the Infinite Legacy Donate Life Family Run. This years event marked 16 consecutive years of hosting this impactful community event aimed at celebrating and honoring the gifts of organ, eye and tissue donors and all those whose lives they touched. #TeamNORA was well represented by our local Baltimore team who arrived onsite at 6:45am to set up tents shielding tired participants from the inclement weather and staged our 5 vehicles for a truly fantastic showing of support. NORA and LOPA have a long standing partnership serving the citizens of Acadiana, Greater Baton Rouge, Greater Jackson, Northeast Louisiana, and Northshore and work together daily to help save lives, restore health and enhance medical care through organ and tissue donation. Recently we were invited to join LOPA in their annual staff skills training and celebration event. Our teams worked, learned and laughed alongside our OPO colleagues as we discussed best practices regarding the use and utilization of the Donor Transport Vehicle (DTV) and specialized Tissue Donor Transport Vans when transporting organ and tissue donors to their Donor Care Unit (DCU). In true NORA fashion, LOPA rolled out all the stops with an aviation and logistics heavy theme complete a departures area to set the days tone, airport gates assigned as skill stations, lounges to refresh tired "travelers" and an arrivals area for all to enjoy when the day was complete!
