About us
Norfolk Botanical Garden is a 175-acre non-profit museum for plants and our mission is to immerse visitors in a world of beauty, lead through environmental action, and inspire through education and connection to nature. Norfolk Botanical Garden is managed by the Norfolk Botanical Garden, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supported by donations, membership dues, admissions & program fees. The Virginia General Assembly designated Norfolk Botanical Garden a State Botanical Garden in 1995 and the organization is also listed as a Virginia Historic Landmark and recorded in the National Register of Historic Places. NBG also has achieved the unique distinction of being one of only 3% of botanical gardens in the country that have achieved the high honor of being accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest standard in its industry, and was re-accredited in 2022. In 2023, NBG was voted the 3rd Best Botanical Garden in the country by Fodor’s Travel and named by Simplemost as one of the 12 Magical Christmas Destinations to Add to Your Bucket List. Other locations on this international list include Switzerland, Walt Disney World, Germany, and the North Pole.

Norfolk Botanical Garden, Inc. reposted this
In August, a team of volunteers from our corporate headquarters in Norfolk, Va., lent a helping hand to the Norfolk Botanical Garden, Inc. PRA Group employees worked in groups across the gardens' massive 158-acre campus to pull weeds, pick up litter and assist with vital maintenance projects like repairing flowerpots to house thousands of bulbs, which play a vital role in providing sustenance to pollinators. Teams of volunteers like this helped Norfolk Botanical Garden plant over 13,000 bulbs last year. PRA Group employees around the world have been helping to make a difference in the environments where we live and work all summer long. Missed out on Fuse Fest hosted by Teens With a Purpose? We were proud to be there, standing alongside our community partners. Thank you for enabling us to educate our dedicated team about environmental conservation. While everyone was enjoying the music, we contributed over 200 native plants to enhance our local ecosystem. Together, we're making a positive impact right here in our community!
