What's the latest in banking? #HeleneUpdate: The NCBA Foundation's Hurricane Helene Relief Fund has raised $358,775.36 thanks to the efforts of our members, individual bankers, and banking associations across the nation. To date, we have distributed $436,000 to 225 individuals employed by 16 NCBA member banks. The needs of our banking family in Western North Carolina remain significant, and your continued support is essential. #IllegalTexts: The NCBA and state banking associations are urging the FCC to implement rules to block illegal texts. The proposed rules would require wireless providers to block texts from known sources of illegal messaging, ensuring consumer protection. #RegulatoryUpdate: The CFPB has issued a final rule under Section 1033 of the Dodd-Frank Act, giving consumers more control over their financial data and tightening restrictions on third-party data usage. Back to grace the halls of the 2024 CAVA RMA Commercial School of Lending, it's Mike Comer! Mike first arrived at the school as a student in 1985, but it wouldn't be long before he would return as the school's youngest presenter in 1989. He went on to launch the advanced second year program in 1992, and he maintains the longest tenure to this day. We'd like to thank Mike for his long-time support of this partnership between the North Carolina Bankers Association and RMA Carolinas-Virginias. It's dedicated faculty like Mike that make the school an annual success!
