Troop 75 Preston CT and Connecticut Delta Waterfowl volunteered their time to remove hen houses for maintenance over the winter at West Thompson Lake. The hen house project began in 2018, providing nesting habitat for ducks at West Thompson Lake ever since. To access hen houses, volunteers kayak (or even walk when there’s low water levels!) to the location of the hen house, looking for evidence of nesting prior to removing the hen house tube from the metal bracket and post.
Yesterday during a site visit, Brig. Gen. John Lloyd, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, North Atlantic Division Commander (center) and Col. Francis Pera, Baltimore District Commander (left of center), discussed the Baltimore District's ongoing renovations at Eisenhower Hall, part of the National Defense University on Fort Lesley J. McNair. The National Defense University is a strategic national resource that prepares senior leaders to think and operate effectively at the highest levels in an increasingly dynamic, complex, and unpredictable international security environment. The North Atlantic Division was proud to host Michael Dean, the Executive Director of the American Salvage Association, at NAD headquarters yesterday. During his visit, he met with NAD Commander Brig. Gen. John Lloyd and other division leaders. This past August, the North Atlantic Division and the American Salvage Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding underscoring the strength of their partnership. The common goal between the organizations is to ensure the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable waterborne transportation system (channels, harbors, and waterways) to support the movement of commerce, promote timely, responsible and professional salvage and debris removal response to marine casualties and natural events; and enhance the protection of the environment along our nation’s waterways. #usace #partnership #salvage #americansalvageassociation

In April 2023, the Republic of Poland, the United States, NATO and their partners celebrated the opening of the Long-Term Equipment Storage and Maintenance Complex in Powidz, Poland. The Europe District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers helped lead the construction and design efforts for this massive structure, which is key to strategic defense in the region. The facility is also being used to train forces. Recent reporting states, "a Polish military logistics workforce has completed M1A2 SEPV3 Abrams main battle tank maintenance training under the U.S. Army in Powidz. Held at the Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 facility, the course prepared the personnel to provide necessary services for U.S. and European Abrams deployed in the region."
