Serving as a long-trusted resource to national agencies like the U.S. Department of Energy, NEEA supports elevations to federal #efficiency standards in ways that benefit #Northwest consumers. In 2023, these efforts paid off in a number of ways, including a new federal water heating standard guided by insight provided in NEEA’s Advanced Water Heating Specification, and an elevated electric motor efficiency standard that has the potential to save enough #electricity to power more than 1 million homes per year for 30 years. To learn more about how NEEA uses its national influence to bring value to the Northwest, read the story in the 2023 Annual Report: https://hubs.ly/Q02GZ3680

On April 30, the U.S. DOE published the new federal efficiency standard for consumer water heaters. The new federal standard will transition the majority of electric storage water heaters to heat pump technology and make important incremental steps to improve gas storage water heater efficiency. The passage of the federal water heating standard represents a major milestone in alliance Market Transformation efforts and is a win for all Northwest gas and electric customers. It is a direct result of nearly 20 years of leadership by the alliance, its market partners, and many stakeholders across the country. Keep reading to learn more: https://hubs.la/Q02vK1f_0
