My first-ever NABJ Convention ✅ Attending the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention was an unforgettable experience! Meeting some of my favorite journalists from around the world, exploring the plethora of opportunities at the career fair, and being part of a live recording of ESPN First Take were just a few of the highlights. The insights I gained in long-form documentaries, sports journalism, international reporting, and health reporting were truly inspiring. I’m feeling so motivated by the knowledge I picked up and the amazing connections I made. One of my favorite sessions was “On Camera: The Art of Telling Your Story,” hosted by CNN, where reporters shared their best tips for telling video stories authentically. My favorite piece of advice was to “Seek connection, not perfection” in all stories. I hope that as I continue telling stories, my authentic self shines in my reporting! A huge thank you to NABJ for organizing a phenomenal event, and a special shoutout to Northwestern University Medill School and Jasmyne Dias for crafting a weekend full of fun and networking for students like me.
