Proudly representing the nonprofit hospice and advanced illness care community.
About us
The National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) is a membership organization comprising nonprofit, community-integrated hospice and palliative care providers. These members are dedicated to ensuring patients and their families have access to care that reflects their individual goals, values, and preferences. Representing providers from across the United States, NPHI and its members help design more innovative and effective models of care, advocate for comprehensive and community-integrated care customized to meet each person’s unique needs, and build collaboration between national thought leaders, decision-makers, and other healthcare stakeholders to improve hospice care. Together with our members, we ensure our most important priorities, policies and initiatives are learned at the bedside, not in the board room. To learn more about NPHI, or find a mission-driven, community-based advanced illness provider nearby, please visit our website at www.nphihealth.org, or call 844-GET-NPHI (438-6744).

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and there’s an important connection to hospice care that we want to share. The origins of modern hospice care began with a powerful friendship. David Tasma, a Polish Jewish refugee who escaped from the Warsaw Ghetto and felt he had achieved little by the age of forty, spent his final weeks at Archway Hospital forming a deep bond with Cicely Saunders. Their connection inspired the idea for a dedicated home for those with advanced illness. Moved by their conversations, David left Cicely a sum of money with a heartfelt message, "I'll be a window in your home," which Cicely took and added to funds which helped set up St. Christopher’s Hospice in 1967. Thank you, David, for helping inspire the hospice movement which has now spread globally and impacted millions of lives.
