About us
About National Security Innovation Network NSIN is a program office in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), nested within the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). We are set up to collaborate with a wide variety of innovators to include universities, researchers, students, entrepreneurs and start-ups. We create opportunities for collaboration across communities and connect those that might not traditionally work in national security. Together, we help drive national security innovation and develop technologies that directly support the individuals responsible for protecting our country. About the Defense Innovation Unit The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) strengthens national security by accelerating the adoption of commercial technology in the Department of Defense and bolstering our allied and national security innovation bases. DIU partners with organizations across the DoD to rapidly prototype and field dual-use capabilities that solve operational challenges at speed and scale. With offices in Silicon Valley, Boston, Austin, Chicago and Washington, DC, DIU is the Department’s gateway to leading technology companies across the country.

Congratulations to Distributed Spectrum for being named as the U.S. winner of the trilateral AUKUS Electronic Warfare (EW) Prize Challenge! The inaugural challenge, launched by Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA), and Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) as part of AUKUS Pillar II to bolster innovation and partnerships amongst allies to enhance joint defense capabilities in order to ensure national, regional, and global stability. "DIU is proud to contribute to these critical efforts with our AUKUS partners in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific,” said DIU Director Doug Beck. “The solutions identified from each country will help address important parts of the EW challenge we all face, and will help us continue to build momentum together toward a stronger international innovation base that leverages the best technology across all of our countries, and that helps us meet our shared operational and strategic requirements, together.” #defenseinnovation #AUKUS
At yesterday's Defense Ministers Meeting, companies from the U.S., Australia and the UK announced the finalists and the overall winner of the trilateral AUKUS Electronic Warfare (EW) Prize Challenge. The winner of the U.S.’s DIU-run challenge was Distributed Spectrum. The finalists each presented technologies that will help AUKUS nations leverage the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) to identify targets and track their location and movements, select and apply appropriate EMS assets and/or EMS enabled weapon systems, and assess the effects of an attack using the EMS. Read more about the winners, including those from Australia’s Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA)-run challenge and the (to be announced soon) U.K.’s Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA)-run challenge here: https://lnkd.in/echJtAgk #DefenseInnovation #AUKUS #Security
