We can change the world when we change our approach to technology.
About us
We're a community of nonprofit professionals who recognize that technology is integral to our work and lives. We've seen firsthand in our communities that access to technology and using it effectively is a consistent barrier across all forms of inequity. Together we can dismantle existing systems of oppression and create new ways for our organizations to approach technology strategically and deploy it in racially equitable ways.

We are so proud of Andrea Melendez, a current Digital Inclusion Fellow, and her work at Orange Literacy being featured in the local news! 🤩 "Something as simple as putting directions into Google Maps or finding a tasty brunch spot can be more of a headache for some than others may realize. Melendez said improving digital literacy requires three parts: broadband internet access, hardware such as computers or cell phones, and a basic understanding of operating modern devices." 📅 The next cohort of the Digital Inclusion Fellowship is open for applications. Hurry, because applications close in less than two weeks! ➡ nten.org/dif

As part of the Utility Justice coalition, NTEN has consistently supported #NoShutOff campaigns against electricity and internet shutdowns. Losing power can be dangerous—not just because of the loss of heating and cooling but also because of the disruption of internet connectivity, which affects our ability to work, study, and stay connected. Last week, NTEN endorsed the Preventing Unnecessary Deaths During Life-Threatening Events (PUDDLE) Act, introduced by Congresswomen Suzan DelBene and Lisa Blunt Rochester, to protect families from electricity shutoffs during heat waves and cold snaps. Under the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA), electric utilities are prohibited from disconnecting electricity due to overdue bills when it poses a health risk. This legislation would clarify that these protections must include extreme hot and cold weather events. Read the bill text: https://lnkd.in/etnVMTEg
