Let's talk ASTM F3001 conformance and certifications. Specifically raw material feedstock conformance and the yielded material after printing. What ASTM F3001 DOES state: "The metal powder shall be free from detrimental amounts of inclusions and impurities and its chemical composition shall be adequate to yield, after processing, the final material chemistry listed in Table 1." What ASTM F3001 DOES NOT state: Raw material values for meeting ASTM F3001. This means - raw material (powder) chemistry is not the benchmark by which finished components should be certified. Simply put, the standard does not mention percentages, by weight, that raw material must meet. The final yield (consolidated or melted material) is the ONLY criteria listed in the standard that can be certified to be in conformance, due to the fact that raw feedstock has no actual values listed in the standard. This provides our customers with empirical evidence the components received meet their specifications. No exclusions, no exceptions.
