Established in 2008 by three Oakland-native Black women with a love for their community, Oakland Natives Give Back is a collection of innovative, community-first programs and funds designed to combine community efforts to help inspire, educate, and uplift the future leaders. ✨

Oakland Natives Give Back (ONGB) was founded in 2008 as a heartfelt response to the founders' personal struggles with school disengagement, absenteeism, and the obstacles they faced in high school. Their firsthand experiences with these challenges fueled their passion to ensure future generations of students wouldn’t face the same barriers to success. ✨ The first major initiative, the Attend and Achieve Back to School Rally, was launched to equip students with essential school supplies and reignite excitement for the new academic year. The Every Day Counts Challenge empowers kindergarteners to be attendance heroes, showing them that their consistent presence in the classroom is a gift to themselves and their community. 💪🎁
