The forensic accountant/auditor supports the Division by working in partnership with its attorneys, detectives, and legal support analysts to investigate cases including, but not limited to, white collar crimes, financial frauds, securities fraud, public integrity-related crimes, tax fraud and organized crime, utilizing the Executive Law, the Martin Act, and other state laws. Many of the actions involve coordination with other state and federal civil and prosecutorial anti-fraud agencies and have resulted in large-scale recoveries on behalf of the state of New York. The OAG seeks a dedicated attorney with litigation experience to serve in the Housing Protection Unit (HPU). HPU is charged with addressing violations of tenant laws, preserving New York State’s affordable housing stock, and stopping fraud in the real estate industry. The selected attorney will investigate complaints and litigate civil claims around violations of tenant laws and fraud in real estate using Executive Law § 63(12) and other tenant and consumer protection laws. Additional duties may include developing relationships with community groups and advocates to better understand issues facing NY residents , creating educational materials, and developing policy. The OAG’s Labor Bureau seeks a forensic accountant/auditor (FAA) for its New York City office. The FAA will support the Labor Bureau by working in partnership with its attorneys, legal support analyst, and administrative staff to conduct complex investigations of labor law violations. The FAA’s responsibilities will include analyzing financial data produced by employers to determine if violations of law have occurred; calculating compensation owed to workers and other damages employers are liable for; summarizing this analysis for internal and external presentations; and potentially serving as a trial witness to explain the analysis. The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced litigator to serve as a Special Litigation Counsel, with a primary focus on defending the Office of Cannabis Management, the Cannabis Control Board, and their respective officers and employees in civil actions and proceedings brought in New York federal and state courts. The Special Litigation Counsel will develop an expertise on a defined set of issues related to cannabis law. The Medical Malpractice Unit of the OAG's Claims Bureau is seeking a registered nurse or licensed physician to serve as a Medical Analyst in the New York City office. Medical Analysts assigned to the Claims Bureau will analyze and review claims containing allegations of medical malpractice; assist attorneys in the preparation and defense of medical malpractice cases; review voluminous medical records; draft detailed memorandum outlining the medical treatment offered and determine if appropriate care and treatment was rendered; perform relevant medical research and literature searches relevant to the allegations; assist attorneys and others on medical issues; and communicate with hospital medical staff and risk managers.
