Outdoor dining starts tomorrow. Don't know which restaurants will have outdoor drinks & dining? You're not alone.   We've been ringing the alarm since February. With one day to go, the City has only given permanent approval to 77 restaurants, and only 7 of those can serve alcohol.   It's hard enough running a business in NYC without trying to navigate a bureaucratic minefield. It's time to cut the red tape and roll out the red carpet on the open dining season.

New York is facing a child care crisis.    Up to 60,000 children from low-income, working families could lose access to care. The Assembly budget provides $212.5 million, but $900 million is needed.    The State must act now to protect families and their child care.

Proud to support our Office's "Iftar on the Go" initiative and pack some meals at SAPNA NYC. Through our partnership with Islamic Relief USA and five local organizations, we have continued to distribute over 12,000 boxed meals across the five boroughs, ensuring those in need can enjoy a meal during Ramadan.

The job of City agencies is to deliver services for New Yorkers, not Donald Trump. That’s what City Hall should be keeping track of. Fortunately, that’s what the NYC Comptroller's Office keeps track of – with our NYC Government Performance dashboard:

45% of our wheelchair testers said they encountered express bus drivers who had issues operating the wheelchair lifts and nearly 30% had drivers who claimed they didn't know how to use it at all.  Worse yet, nearly half of the testers felt they experienced hostile behavior from drivers or passengers during the boarding process.  It's time for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to make good on its accessibility commitments and provide reliable, respectful service for ALL riders.

"It started with disability roundtables about parts of the city that weren't accessible, which led to discussions about transportation." "Everyone said express buses." Our participatory audit model gives NYC residents a voice in the oversight and accountability process.
