We are thrilled to announce that OffWorld has been awarded a NASA Phase 1 SBIR grant for our proposal, "PLUG & PLAY MODULAR ROBOTIC MINING SYSTEM." This milestone underscores our commitment to pioneering advanced technologies for space exploration and sustainable lunar mining operations. NASA is seeking innovative solutions that address the modularity of excavation and mining systems for industrial-scale lunar operations. Our proposal focuses on developing Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to enhance system maintainability, enabling the excavation of thousands of tons of material over extended periods. Leveraging our experience with ruggedized terrestrial mining robots and our lunar Prospector robot design, we will create a comprehensive development plan. This plan will feature beyond state-of-the-art interfaces and tooling necessary for implementing modularity principles in subsystems and components, to enable robotic maintenance and repair, ensuring sustained lunar operations. Stay tuned as we work towards revolutionizing lunar resource extraction, paving the way for a sustainable human presence on the Moon! #SpaceExploration #LunarMining #OffWorld #Innovation #NASA #Sustainability #SBIR #FutureTech #ISRU #Robotics

Our very own Kyle Acierno will take part in this next episode. Stay tuned.
🌑 It is estimated that the lunar economy will reach a total of €170 billion of cumulative market value and lead to the creation of close to 2 million jobs in the next 15-20 years. The next decade could be marked by over 400 lunar missions, making the Moon a new priority for space agencies and commercial actors. To demystify this topic, in the fourth episode of Resourceful, we have invited Kyle Acierno from OffWorld and Estelle Godard from Promus Ventures to share some insights on what the future of business in space looks like. Listen to it on your favourite podcasting platform: Spotify: https://lnkd.in/dEKaW7uB Apple podcasts: https://lnkd.in/dgG8-t7Y YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dPnX3kmz This series is brought to you by the European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). It is produced in collaboration with SciLux.

Thank you European Space Agency - ESA and #europeanspaceconfernce for hosting our very own Kyle Acierno at these key events. OffWorld Europe is at the heart of Europe’s efforts to use space resources for the betterment of humanity.
Are ESA Member states ready to be a leader in the next era of space exploration? Europe is a powerhouse of talent and technological innovation but to maintain and enhance its leadership in the ever-evolving space sector, it's crucial for the continent to align on a unified vision for space exploration. This involves strategic collaboration between its deep-pocketed institutions and numerous financing arms. Last week I had a great opportunity to speak at the #europeanspaceagency and the #EuropeanSpaceConf and share how #offworld can contribute not only on the #Moon but also in #LEO and #Cislunarspace.

Mining the Future: Unveiling the $27 Billion Frontier of Critical Minerals Shaping High Tech and Green Revolution The critical mineral mining industry plays a pivotal role in providing essential materials for various high-tech and green technologies, serving as a cornerstone for modern society’s development. These critical minerals, including rare earth elements such as nickel, copper, platinum, lithium, cobalt, and others, are indispensable components in electronics, energy storage, renewable energy, and defense technology. The estimated total addressable market (TAM) for stranded mineral assets is a staggering $27 billion, currently beyond reach using conventional mining methods. Global demand for critical minerals is propelled by the increasing need for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, smart devices, and advanced manufacturing. However, as these technologies become more widespread, the demand for critical minerals is poised to outpace the existing supply unless new methods are implemented. Ongoing technological advancements, exemplified by the development of electric vehicles, energy storage solutions, and 5G infrastructure, continually drive the demand for critical minerals. Simultaneously, growing environmental awareness and initiatives to reduce carbon emissions fuel a transition towards clean energy technologies, further boosting the demand for these crucial resources. The total addressable market for the critical mining industry is substantial, underpinned by the rising global demand for essential minerals in high-tech and green technologies. While grappling with challenges related to supply constraints, geopolitical dynamics, and environmental considerations, strategic investments, innovation, and sustainable practices emerge as key avenues for growth and market expansion in this dynamic industry. Our first round of financing will be live soon. Reserve shares now. https://lnkd.in/gBN_2kZ4
