‘Ohana Health Plan and the Centene Foundation awarded a $550,000 grant to Hawai'i Island Community Health Center (HICHC) to increase healthcare access for keiki in underserved areas. The funds will support HICHC’s “Gateway to Health” project by providing a new mobile health clinic to expand school-based health services. The mobile health clinic will expand the School-Based Health Centers’ reach, allowing HICHC to serve rural areas. Many of these areas lack easy access to healthcare or a physical space for a school-based clinic. By driving out to these communities, the mobile health clinic will bring medical, dental, and mental health services directly to students. The mobile health clinic is expected to be operational by the start of the 2025-2026 school year. For Maternal Health Awareness Day 2025, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has selected the theme Know What’s at Stake. The vast majority—roughly 80 percent—of maternal deaths are considered preventable, with nearly half of maternal deaths occurring between seven and 365 days postpartum, not during delivery itself. Let’s join with ACOG in raising awareness about maternal mortality. #MaternalHealthAwarenessDay https://lnkd.in/ds9_Ud4D
