Old Colony Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1989 as Attleboro Area Habitat for Humanity and is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat succeeds in reintroducing into neighborhoods the most basic building block of any community – the homeowner. Habitat provides resources, guidance, and hope to aspiring families. These families work from within their neighborhoods, creating the change we all seek, and repaying the investment that we have made in them.

We're proud to support the project with a $50,000 grant, and we look forward to having members of our team roll up their sleeves again to help build this energy-efficient, 3-bedroom house, which will provide affordable housing for a low-income family. Reflecting on nearly a decade of service, I am incredibly proud of the milestones we have reached together and the lasting impact we have made in our community. To our esteemed Board Members: Your vision, guidance, and unwavering support have been instrumental in our success. Your strategic insights and collaborative spirit have laid a strong foundation that will support Old Colony Habitat for Humanity for years to come. Your continued leadership will be vital as we move forward into a new chapter. To our dedicated Volunteers and Sponsors: You are the heart and soul of this organization. Your tireless efforts, whether on construction sites, in the office, or at our events, have created more than just homes; you have fostered a sense of community and hope. Your dedication and hard work have been, and will continue to be, the driving force behind our mission. My nearly ten years with Old Colony Habitat for Humanity have been some of the most rewarding of my life. This journey has not only been a professional endeavor but a deeply personal one as well. The support and camaraderie we've experienced here have made our commitment all the more meaningful and have been a source of great pride for all of us. Although I am retiring our Chief Executive Officer, Kimberly Thomas, will continue to lead the organization just as before. Taunton's First Habitat for Humanity Home Ground-breaking, 5 Chester Court. Old Colony's Habitat for Humanity held their epic ground-breaking for the city of Taunton's first Habitat home today, Thursday, June 27 at 11 a.m. Dozens of people were on hand including city councilors, Mayor Shaunna O'Connell, state delegation as well as Habitat Board members and volunteers.

Taunton will have its first Habitat for Humanity Home soon! With Mayor Shaunna O'Connell's push, Chester Court will be the site of the first Old Colony Habitat for Humanity home, a 1,500-square-foot, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home. Construction should take around 9 months and the family that will eventually be awarded the home will put in a ton of sweat equity to get the home ready.
