We are closing the opportunity gap in Boston.

About us

At One Bead, we partner exclusively with elementary and middle schools in low-income communities where students identify predominantly as African American or Hispanic/Latino. Our after-school leadership programs provide students there with opportunities to thrive outside of the classroom and exposure to new experiences–both of which play a critical role in establishing career pathways for young students of color.

Bike riding is not a hobby of mine. In fact, as a child, I was so against learning to ride that my dad had to buy me a magic bike (which, as it turns out, is just a regular bike that has been spray painted hot pink). Now that I'm in my 30s, I will dabble with a Blue Bike every now and then on the condition that all navigation responsibilities fall on my husband and we are going somewhere fun and/or delicious. In short, there few reasons for me to ever be on a bike, let alone riding one for 25 miles. But you better believe I will do it for One Bead. On September 21, I am participating in the Rodman Ride For Kids, riding and fundraising to support One Bead because I want to empower every student in Boston to be ambitious, pursue a career path they are excited about, and live a more fulfilling life as a result. You can support me by donating (https://lnkd.in/ePPKW4XV), helping to spread the word about the ride and One Bead, and/or volunteering at the finish line (message me for details). Thank you and I hope to see you out there!
