A game changer in high-precision timing! Achieving ultra-precise microwave clock synchronization across 205.86 km of optical fiber, the innovative dual optical comb method developed by #PKU Prof. Guo Hong's team at the School of Electronics reduced time deviation to an astounding 6.23 femtoseconds 🕰 — bringing us closer to optical clock-level precision! This breakthrough, featured as a cover article in Optics, opens vast possibilities, from enhancing the accuracy of remote surgeries to advancing control systems in autonomous vehicular networks. https://lnkd.in/geGaebEm #PKUResearch

AMAZING HEALTH PATCH SENSOR UPDATES At the recent Optica Global Photonics Economic Forum, we heard from Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi Dutch TNO CEO about their desire to work faster and longer with deep-tech startups using advanced technologies, including photonics. In fact, there are several success stories to report already. Today I want to share some clips we made during the recent TNO Holst Centre Innovation day, where Natallia E. Uzunbajakava, PhD , Senior Research Scientist at Holst Centre gave us an extensive tour. They have several ongoing developments in thermal, optical and ultrasound sensors (using their knowledge of flexible electronics). They announced plans for a separate program on photonic biosensing. As well as collaboration with Optica corporate member PhotonDelta, Holst are already working closely with several companies in Japan. So, it is not a coincidence that the topic of health sensors will be discussed in detail during the Brabant Innovation Days meeting in the Tokyo Okura on November 13th 2024. I've included the full details here. https://lnkd.in/dA5MPmeJ The CEOs of two successful medtech startups will also join the meeting. AIKON Health builds on TNO technology to monitor key signs of progressing heart failure. And Onera Health, who are on a mission to make sleep diagnostics and monitoring available for all. If your company is working with health tech sensors, I highly recommend connecting with Natallia E. Uzunbajakava, PhD, and her team in Eindhoven. Their technology can improve the daily health of millions, and our quick tour can only touch on a fraction of what they do.
