The last month has been busy for the ORS team! We celebrated diversity in transplant at AMAT’s Annual Conference, collaborated with transplant professionals at UNOS Region 5 meeting, and enjoyed demonstrating our LifePort Liver Transporter and LifePort Kidney Transporter devices at the ASTS Fall 2024 Fellows Symposium Machine Perfusion Demo session. Right now we are at Philippines Joint Transplant Summit! 🌍🤝 #TransplantResearch

Organ Recovery Systems reposted this
We’d like to give a special shout out to our friends at Organ Recovery Systems, who not only cooked a meal for our families tonight but also recently supported our Home Cook Heroes Program with a generous pledge of $100,000! Organ Recovery Systems has been a partner in caring for transplant families at the House since 2011, and we could not be more grateful for their support of our mission. “Supporting Gift of Life Howie’s House is a true privilege – their unwavering dedication to caring for transplant patients and their families is nothing short of inspiring, and Organ Recovery Systems is honored to play a small part in their incredible mission. Our team especially loves participating in the Home Cook Heroes Program, where we can offer comfort through meals and contribute to the sense of community and care that Howie’s House provides”, says Kayla Andalina, ORS team member. Thank you to Organ Recovery Systems for more than 13 years of steadfast support for transplant families at the House!

As we begin Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re sharing a story about Luis, who made the selfless choice to donate his kidney to a stranger living over 2,000 miles away. 💙💚 Be sure to check Donate Life America's page throughout the next three weeks for stories highlighting the Hispanic Transplant community. #HispanicHeritageMonth #DonateLife #DoneVida
Luis Mayen, Vice President of External Affairs and Strategic Alliances at Donor Network West and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT), recently made the brave decision to become a living organ donor. After months of tests and evaluations, his selfless act became a reality. Luis was an altruistic kidney donor to a woman on dialysis living over 2,000 miles away in New York. Luis hopes his recipient is well and looks forward to learning more about her someday, as their stories are now connected. “This person has a new chance at life, and I would love to write to her to send my best wishes. I am curious to know how she feels and is doing.” This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are helping to share stories that underscore the profound impact of Hispanic professionals in the transplant community. These stories highlight individuals who embody the theme “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” Their remarkable contributions and leadership have paved the way for progress and transformation within our field. Explore these inspiring stories, celebrate their achievements, and join us in honoring their legacies throughout this month and beyond. 💙💚 #HispanicHeritageMonth #DonateLife #DoneVida

I joined Organ Recovery Systems five years ago as a Clinical and Technical Advisor training clients on our LifePort medical devices. However, I was introduced to LifePort Kidney Transporter and many of my ORS team members in 2011 while working as an Organ Recovery Specialist at Versiti in Wisconsin. It was this hands-on experience with LKT as well as the ORS team’s enthusiasm for it that led me to ORS. My role here is very rewarding. I truly enjoy seeing procurement and transplant teams become comfortable pumping kidneys and livers independently. In my free time, I can be found in the woods, on a lake, or in my workshop restoring old items that some people consider “junk.” Outside of working in the operating room, building furniture and restoring old advertising signs is my passion. Working for ORS enables me to pursue both. I’m proud to work for a company with a great mission, and terrific people, products, and clients.
