From Ghana to the USA: My Journey in Finance.
I started my finance career in Ghana with a local audit firm, #BadikoSuglo &Associate (now Suglo and Associates), where I rose from Audit Assistant to Audit Supervisor. I then became a Financial Accountant at #Dizengoff#Ghana Ltd before transitioning to #Financial#Controller at #Myturn Ltd, where I worked until I relocated in 2018.
When I relocated to the USA, I faced a challenging period of four months without a job. For the first time in my career, I felt out of place—not because of my abilities or values, but because my identity, career path, and location were not in sync. Faith in God was the only rope I held on to. However, I finally got an opportunity (just one!) to work as AP Accountant on a temp-to-hire basis at #AMRI (now #CuriaGlobalInc.). Through hard work and dedication, I was promoted to Lead AP Accountant and later secured an internal promotion to Senior Financial Analyst, all within a span of one year.
My journey continued at #ProtectiveIndustrialProductsInc. (#PIP), where I served as #Manager, #Operations#Finance.
Today, I am proud to be working as a #Controller in a company that’s well-positioned and poised for growth – #OrthoNY LLP.
This journey has taught me the value of perseverance and adaptability. But above all, it has taught me that the struggle is real for some people (if not all), but if you have faith, hope, and love, God will take you to places you never imagined. I see His hand daily in everything I do.
I met a lot of amazing people along the way who are God-sent, and I’m truly grateful to them all. I can’t mention all the names (the list is long, trust me 😊), but these two names I will mention. A big THANK YOU to my amazing wife, #AngelinaApindem. She supported me and held the fort when things were rough, working two jobs, schooling while being a wife and a mother! A lot of women have done well, but in my heart, she surpasses all! The second person is #ChristineYager. I call her my US mother. She gave me an opportunity when no one did, and she literally held my hand throughout my career growth in the US. I owe her eternal gratitude! THANK YOU, Chris!
To anyone who can relate to my story, keep pushing and never back down! You are more than a conqueror! It’s in our DNA to triumph!
I am grateful for the opportunities and the growth I have experienced along the way. Looking ahead to the future, what can I say? The pencil is in our hands, let’s create a future we can be proud of!

Dr. Okoli completed his bachelor’s degree in Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He returned to Philadelphia, PA, to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. His surgical training culminated in a fellowship in hand, microvascular and upper extremity surgery at SUNY Stony Brook Hospital in Long Island, NY. Dr. Okoli joined OrthoNY in 2022.

Born and raised in the #CapitalRegion, Dr. Haddad is a graduate of Shaker High School in Latham and the State University of New York in Albany. Dr. Haddad obtained his M.D. at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Upon the completion of his residency in orthopedic surgery at Albany Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. He joined OrthoNY in 2022.
