Thank you to Anu Duggal for her impactful feature in Fortune today, shedding light on the long-standing neglect and underfunding of women's health, and the shift in attention that is now underway. Honored for Oula and our co-founders, Adrianne Nickerson and Elaine Purcell, to be included alongside visionaries such as Kate Ryder and Maven Clinic, as we champion a transformative approach to maternity care, where patients are at the center. Excited for all that's to come! https://lnkd.in/gq-YWb6n

About us
Oula is redesigning maternity care from the ground up. Our modern maternity clinics combine the best of obstetrics and midwifery care to deliver a more evidence-based and personalized pregnancy experience. From our patient-centered medical team, welcoming clinic, and remote care platform, we are setting a new standard for pregnancy care that unifies modern medicine and human intuition. Our first clinic opened in Brooklyn in 2021. We’ve since opened a second clinic in downtown Manhattan with plans for more Oula clinics to come.

“We believe that by improving the experience of pregnancy and childbirth, we can improve health outcomes. In the past three years, we’ve delivered 1500 babies — including two of my own — reduced c-sections by 30%, and have 50% fewer preterm births than local and national averages. These statistics prove that our hypothesis is true.” Our Oula Co-founder and COO, Elaine Purcell, spoke with Chasm Partners as part of Chasm Conversations, a series honoring Women’s Health Month, about all things women's healthcare. She touches on her personal journey into healthcare, how Oula is improving the pregnancy and birth experience while improving outcomes, and what she hopes for the future of maternity care. 🌸 Introducing Oula Postpartum Circles: Where we move through the realness of postpartum, together 🌸 LinkedIn Community, There is such powerful conversation on LinkedIn around supporting birth people through pregnancy, leave, and beyond. We’ve seen firsthand - ourselves and through the eyes of Oula families - how beautiful, yet hard and isolating postpartum can be. Because your support system is so critical during this vulnerable time, we couldn’t be more excited to announce the launch of Oula Postpartum Circles, a safe space for new mothers to learn and connect as they experience the beautiful chaos of postpartum. Crafted by Oula experts and led by a postpartum doula, Circles offer an expert-led, 8-week virtual experience with topics designed for the postpartum journey. Members with similar due dates share in weekly virtual gatherings, a connected 24/7 community chat, and have access to the tools and resources that take the loneliness and guesswork out of the fourth trimester. This offering is open to all patients & non-patients due in 2024. We created this experience because moms need moms. Feeling supported and connected to experts and other mothers during the first few weeks after giving birth can change the course of one’s postpartum experience. It was an honor to join The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and support Oula's very own Georgette Paulycarpe in a compelling discussion around Black Maternal Health. #BMHW24
To help raise awareness, this U.S. Black Maternal Health Week, CNN Anchor Abby Phillip joined our employees for a screening of “Homebirth Journey: Saving Black Moms,” followed by a discussion on Black maternal health in the U.S. - where Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy and birthing complications than white women (Source: CDC). Thank you to Abby Phillip, Georgette Paulycarpe from Oula, and Dr. Kameelah Phillips for the enlightening discussion on this important topic and the maternal health options available to birthing people including collaborative care. #BMHW24

Our team at Maverick Ventures could not be more excited to partner with Oula, the New York-based startup reimagining maternity care. As part of this $28M Series B raise, Oula will expand into new markets and launch additional tech-enabled services. Like my colleagues who have known Adrianne Nickerson - Oula’s CEO - since the company’s seed round, I was impressed with the scale of her ambition from our first meeting. Instead of band-aiding a broken system, she wanted to rebuild maternity care from the ground up. After spending time with Adrianne and her co-founders Elaine Purcell and Joanne, we knew they were the right people for the job. We can’t wait to partner with them as Oula sets a new standard in women’s health.
