Last week, we were honored to sponsor the American Heart Association Go Red for Women Luncheon. Our team came together with local community organizations and leaders to celebrate survivors, and the progress made in heart health. Every day, we’re driven by the goal of improving women’s heart health to create a future where heart disease doesn’t affect 1 in 3 women. We’re proud to be part of a movement that saves lives and promotes better care for all.

Brianna Mascaro didn’t always know which career path to follow, but everything fell into place when she discovered the biomedical field. Just one week after graduating from Portland Community College, she landed her dream job at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, where she now plays a critical role in maintaining life-saving equipment. “I love my job. For our Black History Month campaign this year, we celebrated the national theme of honoring the contributions and stories of African Americans in the Arts by highlighting local artists within our organization and community. A key feature was Emmanuel "Manny" Dempsey, a talented local teen artist whose work perfectly aligned with this theme. We were thrilled to commission Manny to create a painting for our young patients, now proudly displayed on the fourth floor of Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel as part of our permanent collection. Last week, KGW News aired a special segment exploring Manny’s journey and his story as an artist. It's been an honor to support Manny and uplift young talents like him in our community. We're committed to continuing to provide opportunities for youth, helping amplify their voices and showcase their talents. During her pharmacy residency, Lily found herself both excited and nervous as she approached each new milestone. The transition from PGY1 to PGY2 was filled with anticipation but also questioned the future. This past weekend, we had the privilege of sponsoring and celebrating with the community at the Reclaiming Black Joy event held at Dawson Park. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with live music, meaningful connections with our community partners, and, most importantly, the opportunity to meet many community members. A special thank you to our staff from the Breast Health Center, Legacy Medical Group Trauma Surgery, and Legacy Emanuel Family Birth Center. Thank you for sharing your expertise and excitement with the community. We look forward to next year's event and continuing our commitment to promoting good health in our community!

As we wrap up August, we're proud to highlight our collaboration with Vancouver Public Schools in providing essential vaccination clinics for students. This effort, led by Dr. Nick Kashey, Legacy Health vice president of Population Health in partnership with Vancouver Public Schools, has ensured that many students are now up to date on their vaccines and ready to start the school year on time. With flu and RSV season approaching and in the wake of declining childhood vaccination rates during the pandemic, this initiative couldn't have come at a more critical time. At Legacy Health, we're dedicated to fostering strong partnerships that support the health and success of our communities. By ensuring students are prepared and protected, we're helping pave the way for a brighter future for the youth in our communities.
