I think Deal Rooms are overrated, and I'm pivoting Paage away from this category.
As Paage enters its next stage of growth, I wanted to revisit my positioning in the market.
I started this company because I hated being in the dark on a deal. Between calls, I had no idea what my buyer was doing with all the content I'd send over.
Did they even read it? Did they forward it to their team like they said they would?
So, I launched Paage with the goal of getting more visibility into this beyond just an "email open".
Along the way, several competitors launched and raised millions trying to create this new category of Deal Rooms. It didn't make sense to me. Why is this better than Notion or Google Docs? They're free!
But, if hundreds of employees are investing in this, and millions of VC dollars are going into it, maybe I'm wrong. And so I started pitching Paage as a one-pager/deal room tool too.
Meanwhile, I'd get messages weekly from customers sharing stories of how much they love Paage's activity feed.
They'd tell me how it gives them signal on which buyers are interested & who they need to focus on.
Some customers mentioned how they send every piece of important information for a deal through Paage, so they know who's genuinely interested.
And so, rather than chasing this hype train, I'm pivoting Paage's positioning back to its roots:
Giving reps more visibility on what buyers are doing between calls.
