Election Day in the United States is almost here, and the stakes are high for businesses. Last month, at the 2024 Page Annual Conference, Political Strategist Bruce Mehlman shared powerful insights on the evolving political landscape and its implications for business leaders: - Populism and anti-institutional sentiments: Business leaders must recognize the structural issues and prioritize innovative approaches. - Need for engagement and preparedness: Companies need diverse teams, clear response plans, and a focus on creating long-term value. - Evolving role of the CCO: CCOs now require a broader skill set to tackle today’s complex challenges. - Rising risk of disinformation: A balanced media approach can help combat rising disinformation. Uniting the world's best communicators to transform business for the better.
About us
The Page Society is the world’s premier membership organization for the chief communications officers (CCOs) of Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies, non-profit charities, public interest organizations and government agencies; the CEOs of public relations firms that advise major corporations; and educators who research and teach corporate communications at leading business and communications schools. The mission of Page is to strengthen the enterprise leadership role of the chief communications officer by embracing the highest professional standards; by advancing the way communications is understood, practiced and taught; and by providing a collegial and dynamic learning environment. Page adheres to principles derived from the lifetime work and writings of Arthur W. Page, who was vice president of public relations for AT&T from 1927 to 1946, serving on the company’s most senior management committee and its board of directors. Membership in the Society is by invitation only. Membership currently stands at more than 800. Over the next five years, we expect to continue to grow, with a strategic focus on becoming truly a global organization. Page is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional organization governed by a 36-member Board of Trustees that is elected to staggered three-year terms by the members of the Page Society. Last week we had a regional networking event in Paris on the theme “Future Proofed Approaches to Multi-Stakeholder Management - Building Allies & Advocates for Now and Next.” We discussed the strategic role of the CCO in navigating organizational complexities and emphasized their crucial role in multi-stakeholder engagement and corporate governance. We explored the opportunities and challenges in today’s socio-economic climate when developing effective stakeholder strategies. Key insights included building multicultural and geographically diverse stakeholder communities and communications plans, as well as managing these communities during crises and other critical moments. We want to thank Zach Eichman, Raphaël Labbé, Kai Bucher, Antoun Sfeir, Kim Johnson, Anette Rey, Anne-Laure LAMBERT (Navarre), MBA, Emmanuelle Saby, Christina Trejo, Sandra Macleod FIPR, CCIM, Sarah Ogden, Cendrine Seror and Emeline P. for attending. Thank you to Zeno Group France for sponsoring this event.

CCOs as 'Zen Masters': Brian Lott and Umayma Abubakar of Mubadala joined us in Boston for #PageUpAnnual to provide an eye-opening look at the evolving role of the CCO. Brian underscored the critical need for CCOs to be deeply attuned to the immense pressures facing the C-suite, ready to provide counsel and a calming presence when the CEO needs it most, in order to enable effective leadership in today's polarized global environment.

Fascinating discussion at #PageUpAnnual on the agency model and how it needs to evolve. A lively debate ensued between the agency and corporate members - both sides shared what's working, what's not, and how agencies can bring more value to clients in the years ahead. Thanks Gary Sheffer Anne de Schweinitz and Bradley Akubuiro for leading this thought-provoking session!
