The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund Welcomes Second Group of Patients from Gaza to Lebanon, for Medical Treatment at AUBMC - American University of Beirut Medical Center. Beirut, Lebanon - July 12, 2024 – The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund (GASCF), in collaboration with The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and Insaan NGO announces the arrival of our second group of patients from Gaza in Lebanon. The children’s ages range from 5 to 15 years old, and they will all be receiving medical treatment at AUBMC for war injuries inflicted by the Israeli Occupation Forces. The children landed safely in Beirut on the evening of Thursday, July 11th, accompanied by their caretakers. GASCF is welcoming them and ensuring they receive the best possible medical, psychological, and social care needed during their entire stay. Thanks to our generous donors we are able to cover all expenses including, but not limited to, hospital stay, medical interventions, social welfare services, housing, food, and logistics. Their arrival reiterates GASCF’s commitment to treat children with war injuries, in Lebanon, with the highest available level of expertise in war and injury surgery and treatment. Our objective is to ensure that every child receives the necessary treatment and support before they can safely return to their community to continue their recovery. We are grateful to our donors and the community for their commitment to this cause, and will continue to post updates about the children’s progress and the Fund’s activities on our social media accounts and website. On a recent PCRF medical mission, Dr. Owayydh Al Mutairi, a leading Kuwaiti orthopedic surgeon and his team were unable to enter Gaza. Undeterred, Dr. Al Mutairi’s commitment to saving lives didn’t waver. Before returning to Kuwait, he performed two critical surgeries in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Al Mutairi’s four-week mission in Gaza was planned to deliver essential treatment and life-saving surgeries. This week, joy and hope filled the air at the PCRF Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Department in the West Bank, as our dedicated staff hosted a day of entertainment and educational activities for the children. Opened in 2013 as the first and only public cancer department for children in the West Bank, and made possible through the generosity of our global donors, we continue to ensure these young patients receive the best care possible, including child-life activities such as tutoring and therapeutic play that bring comfort and healing.
